Battle-damaged panel : Bushmaster Infantry Mobility Vehicle 203349
Battle-damaged front left-hand panel from Bushmaster Infantry Mobility Vehicle ARN 203349. Triangular steel panel painted in camouflage colours of tan and black with remnants of green. Stenciled in one corner in green is 'H O [O is mostly obscured]'. There are five impact points on the panel, three of which have pierced the steel. All have removed all paint layers.
Operating as part of the Overwatch Battle Group (West) - 4, Bushmaster Infantry Mobility Vehicle 203349 was on patrol near An Nasiriyah, in southern Iraq on 17 May 2008 when it was struck by an IED (Improvised Explosive Device). Private Liam Haven of 6 Battalion, the Royal Australian Regiment (6 RAR) suffered wounds to his upper body and lost the vision in both his eyes in the attack. The vehicle call sign was 61C and its name was 'HOMBRES SIN MIEDO' (Men Without Fear).
The Bushmaster Infantry Mobility Vehicle was developed to meet the requirements of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) to rapidly deploy battle ready troops in all field conditions and has six variants: troop transport, ambulance, direct fire, mortar, engineer and command.
