Building a picture theatre amid the ruins of Alexishafen; [studies of soldiers building]
Description
In the foreground there are three men seated, one is crouched on his haunches as they take a tea break amongst the activity of cutting of logs from surrounding trees used in the construction of the theatre. In the back ground there are four established buildings and a vehicle to the right. The busy scene is embraced by palm trees in various states of being cut down and some having the tops torn off, having been damaged through the devastation of war.
Verso: Four pencil studies of men working, bending with an axe, two studies of men lifting and one of a man standing with his left hand in his pocket and his right hand holding an axe to the ground.
