Collection relating to the Operation CEDILLA (United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO)) service of Lieutenant Colonel Peter Lambert, Commander Australian Contingent, Western Sahara, Libya, Chad, and Tunisia, 1993-1994.
Wallet 1 of 1 contains two MINURSO identification cards, one flight ticket, and three Army Field Message Notebooks. Two of the notebooks dated November 1993 - January 1994, and January 1994 - May 1994 respectively contain operational notes, and outlines of lectures and speaches given by Lieutenant Colonel Lambert. The third notebook is dated April 1994, and contains near-daily entries regarding an observational trip to the village of Aouzou Village, Chad, the soverignty over which was then being decided by the International Court of Justice. Lambert discusses local feelings of resentment towards the United Nations over the with withdrawal of Libyan troops, ongoing issues with communication technology, his impressions of Libya, and inconveniences crossing the border from Libya to Tunisia.
