Prisoners of war on the long winter march from the prisoner of war camp at Stalag Luft III (Stammlager Luftwasse III) in Sagan (Sagan bei Breslau), Germany (now part of Poland) where they were held from September 1943 to January 1945, to a crowded prisoner of war camp at Tarmstedt bei Bremen.
