Rice grinder, Changi
Description
A home made rice grinder made by the Australian prisoners of war during the period of captivity in the Changi Prisoner of War Camp. The rice is first soaked beforehand then fed through the hole on the top (bottom illustration). As the handle is turned around the rice makes its way through the machine. The ground rice is then dried and used to make bread or a substitute for porridge.
Verso; Several drawings.
