Description

Four of the RAAF's Anti-Submarine Patrol Aircraft (Orions) from No. 11 Squadron based at Edinburgh South Australia, took part in an exercise in the Hawaiian Island area. The exercise, code named Hawaiian Corsair, was designed to enable the RAAF crews to practice anti-submarine operational techniques with their counterparts in the United States Navy. While on the exercise the RAAF aircraft and crews, under the control of the Squadron Commanding Officer, Wing Commander Russell Law, were based at Barber's Point, near Honolulu. This item illustrates groundcrew preparing an Orion for the exercise, Orion taking off and in flight.
