Farr, Robert William (Sergeant)
Description
Brown leatherbound exercise book containing handwritten entries in pencil concerning Australians, British, Americans and Dutch held as prisoners of war of the Japanese (POWs) in Java, Thailand & Malaya. Most entries concern members of the 2/3 Machine Gun Battalion, members of "D" and "F" Forces. There are some nominal rolls, plus death, burial and casualty lists. Also two carbon copy typescript translations of speeches made by Taiwan and Formosan camp commandants to POWs at war's end. A photocopy of the exercise book has been made and this should be used by researchers and not the original.
