Description
Lee-Enfield No 2 Mk IV* Rifle. Receiver marked LITHGOW SHT LE III* within a shield 1920. Butt marked MA No 2. Mk IV* 6/50 R. This rifle resembles the Short Magazine Lee-Enfield No I Mk III* but has a .22 inch calibre barrel and an offset firing pin in the bolt head marked .22 No2.
History / Summary
This .22 inch training rifle was re-manufactured in June 1950 and is a conversion from a SMLE No I Mk III*. They were issued in large numbers to the Australian Military Forces and still in use with cadet units when they were disbanded in 1975.
