7th Government Concert party to Vietnam DPR/TV/636
More than 1000 cheering, handclapping Australian soldiers last weekend yelled for more entertainment when the latest Government sponsored concert party performed at the Task Force Base at Nui Dat, Vietnam. After the concerts at Nui Dat the party flew to Vung Tau where they entertained Army and RAAF troops for five days. From Vung Tau the entertainers moved to the RAAF base at Phang Rang and then joined the United States Seventh Fleet to become the first Australian artist to entertain the United States Navy while on active service in Vietnam. The entertainers will return to Australia on June 21. Entertainers were: Twilighters, Johnny Stoddart, accordionist singer, Maire Blanche, Cathy Wayne [stage name of Catherine Anne Warnes shot and killed by a US Marine sergeant James Wayne Killen on 20 July 1969] and Valmai Johnston.
