[Sound recording] Sing us a song of Australia
Description
Recording of the song titled, 'Sing us a song of Australia', created as part of the Music and the First World War project. Music and lyrics written by Charles Ridgeway. Produced by Chris Latham, with Christina Wilson as vocalist and Alan Hicks on piano.
Chris Latham, producer of this recording, notes: 'This is a well-made song that is very straight and predictable. It is representative of the Music Hall style and is very sunny with a nice tune. A female singer was selected for the recording because the original performer of the song was also female. It is a nostalgic song with the coo-ee adding a very strong cultural element. The song pulls on the heart-strings and it is nice to hear something Australian.'
