Description

Letters and document relating to the First World War service of Chaplain William McKenzie, 4th Battalion, Australian Imperial Force. During his service, McKenzie was awarded the Military Cross and was congratulated personally by William Birdwood. When McKenzie returned to Australia, Birdwood also expressed his thanks for McKenzie's good work among the Anzacs. Upon McKenzie's death in 1947, Charles Edwin Woodrow Bean wrote him a tribute, which was broadcast nationally on the day of his funeral.
