Log book of Thomas Joseph Lynch, 1942-1944
Description
Log book relating to the Second World War service of 414807 Flight Lieutenant Thomas Joseph Lynch, 460 Squadron, Royal Australian Air Force.
This flying log book records flights that Lynch took part in between June 1942 and April 1944, such as training flights, cross country flights, and test flights. It also records numerous bombing missions in which Lynch was an air gunner, such as operations over Italy and Germany. In April 1944 his plane was shot down over Germany, and Lynch was the only survivor of the crew. He was captured as a prisoner of war of the Germans, and remained interned until early 1945.
