Description
Laayoune, Western Sahara. Distant view of buildings utilised by the headquarters of MINURSO (United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara). On the left are white containers making up the Swiss Medical Unit's (SMU) compound. The brown buildings (a former school) were occupied by both the military and civilian UN staff in the Headquarters. The satellite dish which primarily operated to the United Nations in New York can also be seen. Of particular note is the red Moroccan flag which flew from the building. In the background are two Moroccan Tropospheric Scatter Antennas which were not operative and two radio masts.
