Description

England. C. 1944-06. Informal group portrait of "Recce" pilots, who had been spotting for the Navy, with Army liaison officers, getting the latest information from new photographs. The RAF Reconnaissance Squadrons photographed the invasion coasts, and these photographs were extensively used by the Navy and Army. During the landings many of the "recce" pilots were operating as target and artillery spotters for the Navy, over targets they had come to know as well as their own home towns.
