India. c. 1902. Group portrait of the 9th Queen's Royal Lancers, including members of the polo team with their trophies, after returning from South Africa. Included in the photograph is Harry George Ayres (third row from the back, right hand side, centre, next to the plant) who was later awarded a Military Medal and on 27 July 1918 a Distinguished Conduct Medal (DCM) while a member of the 4th Light Horse Regiment.
