Description

Album of 66 pages including covers with 249 black and white prints related to the service of Lieutenant Commander Peter Corsar Anderson, RAN, in Europe and Australia. Subjects include: RN College Greenwich, Greenwich Hospital School, sports events and obstacle courses (potato race, tie and cigarette race, pillow race), tortoise racing on deck, picnics and leisure, men in deep sea diving gear, a motorbike numbered BK9743, a cyclone at sea, HMAS Platypus, First World War battlefields at Ypres, Sanctuary Wood, China Wall (Perth) Cemetery including the grave of Mark Brady, killed in action on 15 August 1917, and the Australian memorial at Pozieres. Many vessels, including: HMAS Adelaide, HMS Renown, HMS Excellent, SS Osterley, HMS Iron Duke, HMS Ramillies, HMS Malaya, HMS Revenge, HMS Curacoa, HMS Valiant, HMS Barham, HMS Queen Elizabeth, HMS Warspite, SS Sophocles, HMS Valkyrie, some in named ports such as Weymouth, Constantinople, Prinkipo, Hervey Bay and Malta. Tourist photographs in European locations such as Montana Vermala, Paris, Innsbruck, the Tyrol, Chanak, Basle [Basel], Zurick [Zurich]; in the UK (Clovelly, Exeter, Brixton, Whale Island, Doone Valley, Lynton, Campbelltown, Isle of Wight); and Australia (Hobart, Tasmania, Mount Martha). Other locations include Port Said, Suez Canal, Tipnor, Malta, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane.
