Description
Informal portrait of NX55612 Corporal (Cpl) Peter Richard Wellington, standing outside the 2/19th Battalion Headquarters at Port Dickson, Malaya. Cpl Wellington from Windsor, NSW was later captured by the Japanese in Malaya on 19 January 1942 and held as a prisoner of war (POW) until repatriated and embarked for return to Australia on 18 October 1945. Seated on the right are members of the Company who acted as runners, while a security guard marches past the building in the foreground. [See also image P00102.052.]
