Description
Informal portrait of NX55612 Corporal (Cpl) Peter Richard Wellington, postman with the 2/19th Battalion at Port Dickson, Malaya. Cpl Wellington from Windsor, NSW hands out used stamps to local children. He was later captured by the Japanese in Malaya on 19 January 1942 and held as a prisoner of war (POW) until repatriated and embarked for return to Australia on 18 October 1945.
