ARMFIELD, Mary Jane West RRC (Sister)
Description
Correspondence dated 27/5/1884 and copy of Royal Warrant under which the award of the Royal Red Cross (RRC) was conferred to Sister Mary Armfield, the first Australian to receive such an award in 1883 for services rendered during the Zulu war of 1879. Sister Armfield was one of the Stafford House sisters in South Africa during the Zulu war.
