Following his wounding on 12 October 1916, he underwent medical treatment and re-joined the 52nd Battalion a month later. Sgt Hall was again wounded in action on 17 October 1917 at Broodseinde, Passchendaele, Belgium and died from his wounds the next day. He is buried in the Sanctuary Wood Cemetery in Zillebeke, Belgium. His brother, 2033 Lance Corporal Norman Hall was also killed in action [see image H06001].
