Description
Ramale Mission, Kokopo Area, New Britain. Sister Mary F Borgia, Order of the Lady of the Sacred Heart, writing her first letter home in three and a half years. She celebrated her golden gubilee as a nun at Ramale Mission on 2 July 1945. She is one of a group of internees liberated when troops of HQ 11 Division occupied the area following the surrender of the Japanese. Note: Sister Mary Borgia was also present in Kokopo during the First World War 1914-1918 and also witnessed the Japanese invasion on 1942. She was Borgia Kelly from Queensland.
