Merrington, Ernest Northcroft (Colonel Chaplain , b.1876 - d.1953)
Collection relating to the First World War service of Colonel Chaplain Ernest Northcroft Merrington. Collection consists of personal papers, letters, printed material and assorted other items covering Merrington's service as an army chaplain.
Wallet 1
Folder 1 contains material from 1914-1915 and Merrington's experience in Egypt. Included are signatures of some of the crew from the SMS Emden taken onboard HMAT Omrah after the Emden was run aground in November 1914; two letters and a postcard written family in late 1914 and early 1915; a programme from a concert at Ma'adi Recreational camp, Egypt; and minutes and notes re chaplaincy work in Egypt.
Folder 2 contains material relating to Merrington's experience on Gallipoli. Included are letters (both official and to family); notes on chaplaincy work; orders and notices; news clippings, including some copies of the 'Peninsula Press'; printed material relating to Gallipoli and the Dardenelles Commission; and a printed Gallipoli map, heavily illustrated in pencil.

Folder 1 contains material from 1917 on onwards, relating to Merrington's experiences in France. Included are letters (both official and to family); various programmes; notes and notices; and news clippings, including some copies of 'The Digger'.
Folder 2 contains an autograph book, containing signatures from some notable military figures.
