Welcome Home presentation medal from the Citizens of Lidcombe, NSW : Trooper C T Spencer, 6 Light Horse Regiment, AIF
Welcome home from active service medal presented by the citizens of Lidcombe. Silver medal shows on the obverse a scroll within a laurel wreath, with lettering around the wreath 'HE HEARD HIS COUNTRY'S CALL'. The scroll is engraved 'A Tribute From THE CITIZENS OF LIDCOMBE On His Return From Active Service 1919'. Reverse shows soldiers on the edge of a bay, a rising sun and a figure of Victory. Medal is engraved around edge the recipient's name, and suspended by a narrow cotton ribbon in red, white and blue. Medal has the name 'FAMES' incorporated into the design. This may be the name of the designer or manufacturer, possibly British.
Associated with 2382 Private Cecil Thomas Spencer. He enlisted on 23 November 1915 in 6 Light Horse Regiment, AIF, and rReturned to Australia on 15 November 1918.
