Description
John Henry McDonald, trader and plantation owner, of Fauro Island, was forced to live and act as a native for three and a years, following Japanese occupation in 1942. McDonald (43 years old) was born on Fauro Island and was educated at St Joseph's College, Sydney, NSW. Also identified: VX12531 Major Frederick Arthur Goding seen talking to Mr McDonald; Private W F Butler, A Company, 9 Australian Infantry Battalion bieng straped to a stretcher prior to being flown from Kara to Torokina for a appendicitis operation; 406999 Flight Lieutenant Stanley Donald Meredith, the Auster pilot who flew the sick man out.
