Description
Collection relating to the First World War service of 706 Captain Clarence Wallach MC, 19 Battalion. Collection consists of a transcript of a diary covering troopship journey, arrival at Gallipoli in August, fighting alongside Gurkhas, details of action (mostly at Popes Post). Mentions preparations for evacuation (such as periods without firing) and details of the evacuation itself, including maintaining the illusion of continued defence.
