Description

Original pocket size diary belonging to 236 Corporal Andrew Reilly MM, who served overseas with 2nd Field Company Engineers during the First World War. The diary spans the period of his entire service, from his embarkation in September 1914, to his return to Australia in March 1918. The entries are not daily, and are very brief, with many simply mentioning where he was on a particular day. Notable entries include his landing at Gallipoli on 25 April 1915, evacuation from Gallipoli 18 December 1915, promotion to Corporal on 28 May 1917, and receiving the award of the Military Medal by the Governor on 5 July 1918.
