Edmonds, Adrian Henry (Lance Corporal, b.1891 - d.1968)
Description
Collection relating to the First World War service of Lance Corporal Adrian Henry Edmonds (1061) who served on the Western Front. Collection consists of four diaries wrapped in a canvas satchel. The diaries describe his enlistment in the 3rd Divisional Signal Company at Victoria Barracks in 1915; the voyage to Egypt on HMAT Port Macquarie (including an account of the 'Crossing the Line' ceremony); conditions, food rations and action at Gallipoli from August to the evacuation in December 1915; conditions and fighting in France; and his voyage home to Australia in 1919. Also included are typed transcripts of the diaries.
