Description
Collection relating to the First World War service of No 7209 Private Isaac Henry Betteridge, 23 Battalion. Collection consists of typed transcripts of two diaries, covering March to June 1917 and February to August 1918. The diaries cover the sea voyage, training in England, and fighting in France in 1918. They describe conditions in trenches, artillery bombardments, rations; and provide comments on English, American, Canadian, French, German soldiers. The attack on Hindenburg Line and advance of July-August 1918 is also described.
