Captured in colour: rare photographs from the First World War - Imperial Camel Corps
In February 1918 Hurley went to Rafa to photograph Australians in the Imperial Camel Corps. He recalled the occasion as “the busiest day I have had so far, and by far the most unique performances. The events opened with a battalion in attack and a re-enactment of the battle of Rafa, and on the very grounds.” In one of these images, we see cameliers forming up for their re-enactment.
