Hell Spit graveyard showing graves 'faked' (remade) by the Turks. This was done across many of the Gallipoli cemeteries in anticipation of the diplomatic visit by an envoy of the Pope in 1916. One of a series of photographs taken on the Gallipoli Peninsula under the direction of Captain C E W Bean of the Australian Historical Mission, during the months of February and March, 1919.
