RAAF aircrew trainees of the 8th RAAF Contingent to leave for Canada, gathered on the deck of the troop transport taking them to Canada, where they will undergo advanced flying training as part of the Empire Air Training Scheme (EATS). Note: The white insert in the forage cap distinguished aircrew trainees from other RAAF personnel. The airman centre right wearing a life vest has been identified as 400712 Vivian Joseph (Viv) Hibbens.
