Three RAAF pilots with considerable service in the Middle East. Left to right: 386 Flight Lieutenant (Flt Lt) Alan Charles Rawlinson DFC; 456 Flt Lt Lindsay Eric Shaw Knowles, and 035436 Squadron Leader Peter Jeffrey DFC, all of 3 Squadron, RAAF. Flt Lt Knowles was lost on operations on 22 November, 1941 while flying in the Middle East. He is buried in the Knightsbridge War Cemetery located 25 kilometres west of Tobruk in Libya.
