Description

Portrait of Acting Paymaster Captain Patrick Perry, RAN, born 14 February 1903, standing at an opened safe. He entered RAN as Paymaster Cadet in 1921, and attained rank of Paymaster Commander in 1939. Served in Royal Navy ships prior to the outbreak of war, and was Naval Liaison Officer, London, from August 1937 to August 1941. Appointed HMAS Australia in January 1942, as secretary to Rear Admiral J. G. Crace CB (Rear Admiral Commanding Australian Squadron), and served in HMAS Australia and HMAS Shropshire as secretary to Rear Admiral V. A. C. Crutchley VC DSC, who succeeded Rear Admiral Crace. Acting Paymaster Captain Perry left HMAS Australia in June of this year and is now secretary to the First Naval Member, Admiral Sir Guy Royle KCB CMG.
