Wewak, New Guinea. 2 August 1945. Senior officer welcomes a Red Cross worker and seven nurses on their arrival to take up duties at 104 Casualty Clearing Station (CCS) hospital, Cape Wom. They were the first to arrive at such a forward position. Cape Wom is 4,000 yards from Wewak Point and 8,000 yards from the island of Muschu which is still in the hands of the Japanese.
