Description

Yokohama, Japan. 5 September 1945. On the evening of 5 September 1945, 231 prisoners of war (POWs) were brought to Yokohama. They were immediately taken to a delousing station where they were given food, comforts, cigarettes, candy and received medical treatment when necessary. They were then taken to Allied ships for the night. Members of the 2/20th and 2/18th Battalions and signallers of the 8th Division, all of whom we captured in Singapore, were among the POWs released.
