Description
A section of the Victory March moving into Adelaide Street, along a route lined with spectators. Following the dropping of the first atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Monday the 13th of August was declared a public holiday for Queensland by the Acting Premier, Mr Hanlon. A march in anticipation of peace was organised, open to anyone who had ever worn a service uniform of any description. It was estimated that 75,000 spectators lined the route. There was some chaos, with a policeman being quoted in the following day's newspaper as saying "I hate to think what's going to happen when peace is officially declared".
