Description
A guard of honour mounted by British Solomon Islands Protectorate Defence Force (BSIPDF) scouts trained and commanded by Captain D G Kennedy. The guard slopes arms on the jetty at Segi for a ceremonial handover of a Japanese prisoner of war (POW) who is to be taken by boat to Guadalcanal. The BSIPDF soldier on the far end of the line wears a Japanese helmet as a trophy of a successful ambush on an enemy patrol. Naval Historical Collection, formally Y094.
