Description

The Cross and the Crescent unloading a hospital train at the rear of the Heliopolis Palace Hotel, from which this photograph was taken. This building at the time accommodated No 1 Australian General Hospital (AGH). The wounded were from Gallipoli, being entrained at Alexandria. Note the red crescents painted on the carriages of this Egyptian train.
