Description
HMAS Tingira moored at Rose Bay in Sydney Harbour. The Tingira was commissioned by the RAN on 25 April 1912 as a boys' training ship. Tingira was purchased by the Commonwealth of Australia from the NSW Government where as the 'Sobraon' she was used for many years as a reformatory ship for delinquent boys. Tingira remained in service with the RAN for 15 years with 3158 boys receiving their training in her before joining the seagoing fleet.
