Description
The 'Paris Gun' round which many legends were woven, which astonished the world, with transportable crane specially constructed for the purpose. This heavy German 24 cm long range railway gun bombarded Paris from the wood near Le Gateau at a distance of 130 kilometres. The gun barrel was 34 metres long and the shell reached a height of 40,000 metres. Seven guns of this kind were built, of which two were always in use. Paris was bombarded with 305 rounds and 267 people were killed.
