The "National" bus strike
Description
A horse-drawn omnibus called "Nationalism" is driven by Henry Lefroy past Frank Wilson, who doffs his had as he misses the bus. Lefroy was the Premier of Western Australia from June 1917 to April 1919, and was the leader of the newly formed Nationalist party. Frank Wilson was immediate predecessor and had been the leader of the Commonwealth Liberal Party, which was replaced by the Nationalists in 1917. Lefroy was the leader of the newly formed Nationalist party which replaced the previous Commonwealth Liberal party, of which Wilson was the leader. The new Nationalist party was disorganised and factionalised with much infighting. The other names in this work refer to various ministers in the Western Australian government at the time.
