Japanese look-out in tree at Kuala Belait
Description
On the road between Belait Jettu and Headquarters, 20th Australian Infantry Brigade, the look-out structure was erected as a watch tower by the Japanese during their occupation. On the left of the picture is a ruined compound, the scene of the burning of a building, full of Indian prisoners-of-war, by Japanese who returned after the U.S bombardment of the town, North West Borneo, 1945.
