Mt Isa mines township
Description
The mines community in neat, screened bungalows surrounded by well watered gardens and trees. There are modern bachelor living quarters, mess halls, recreation clubs, stores, bank and post office. On the other side of the ridge and the Leichhardt River lies the original township. Both are served by an abundant water supply, piped in from Rifle Creek Dam, some distance from the ranges.
