Pilots discussing an operation on their return
Description
Five pilots stand in a group discussing the operation they have just returned from. The artist later wrote about about the work: "An exciting babble of voices exchanging new and views - it usually takes the Intelligence Officer a quarter of an hour to get them 'back to earth", and get their individual stories. Nothing shows the gulf that exists between air crew and ground staff more than these moments immediately following the return of an operational flight, when the pilots have eyes and ears only for each other".
