View of Ras en Naqoura, the promontory that forms the coastal point of definition between Syria and Palestine. Rounding the point at sea, are units of the British Fleet, out of Haifa Bay en route to bombard Vichy positions near Beirut. The Customs House and frontier are on top of the promontory. Vehicles on the road are of a supply column on the way to forward troop positions. White cliffs and blue sea gleaming in the bright sunshine. The Syrian operation was the first time in which the RAN, the AIF and the RAAF had all co-operated in the one operation, Palestine - Syria.
