Sister Bullwinkel
Description
Three quarter portrait of Sister Vivian Bullwinkel wearing military dress uniform. In 1964 Bullwinkel became the first woman appointed a Trustee of the Australian War Memorial.
Born in 1905 in Vienna, Austria, Louis Kahan came to Australian in 1947. His portraits of famous Australian's were published in journals and newspapers and in 1962 he won the Archibald Prize with a portrait of Australian author Patrick White.
