Pte Mark Young
Description
Full-length portrait of Private Mark Young (NX112361), D Company, 2/28th Battalion. Pte Young's rifle is slung casually over his right sholder. The sleeve of his left arm is torn at the sholder, and his thumb hooks into his belt showing a wedding band on his left ring finger. He is depicted here wearing the wide-brimmed slouch hat, which many Australian infantry continued to wear despite its impracticality for jungle warfare.
