The Egyptian desert village of Mena, 10 miles from the centre of Cairo, with the pyramids at Gizeh in the background. There was an AIF camp at Mena, which included the 2nd Australian General Hospital and 1st Division Headquarters. The 1st Division spent four months here undergoing intensive training before the Gallipoli campaign.
