Description
Tel el Kebir camp between Cairo and the Suez Canal. Australian troops came here after the evacuation of the Gallipoli peninsula; here the organisation of the 4th and 5th Divisions began in February 1916. In the foreground is a roofless, possibly ruined house with a garden. Stores are piled beyond; on the left are two large tents and beyond is a sea of Eight Person Indian Production (EPIP) tents used for accommodation.
