Description
An unidentified soldier, who was serving as batman for Colonel (Col) Neville Reginald Howse, outside his dugout near the headquarters of the 1st Australian Division on the Gallipoli Peninsula. Col Howse was at this time Assistant Director of Medical Services, 1st Australian Division. The brushwood along the path was intended to screen the dugouts from direct observation by the Turks, who, at this time, were in possession of Suvla to the north.
